I thought it might be fun today to paste a short excerpt of the sequel to The Legend of Lady MacLaoch. I'm still working on the manuscript so this snippet isn't edited, and um, if I get crazy with my Red Pen of Doom in the editing process this excerpt might come out. And um, it's super short, so don't get your hopes up too high and, um, can you tell I'm a touch nervous on posting unedited work?
Okay here it is:
Rowan says, breathing heavily, "I love you."
There, I hope you liked it!!!
Just kidding. Here's the real excerpt:
“Can I entice you out to the pub for a drink as a thank you for the job and your hospitality?” Mickey asked.
I looked behind me up the trail then back to him, “I’ve got to put my things away, maybe some other time.”
“Och, come now, all work and no play is no way to live your life and I’m sure your boyfriend won’t mind just one drink with me.”
I heard the fishing question in his words, “My husband wouldn’t mind, but I do. I’ve things to do Mickey Gillian and none of them are you.”
“Och. Well, your husband is a lucky man.”
The sound of footsteps on the gravel path crunched behind him as a much deeper voice said, “Tha’ he is.”
Mickey’s face flushed as he turned.
Rowan offered his hand, “Rowan MacLaoch, clan chief and executor of MacLaoch estates,” he said.
Rowan was in his usual business garb of well fitting dark slacks, pressed slate blue shirt and sport coat that fit snug across his shoulders. The look made him imposing and gave the feeling he was the most important man in the world.
Mickey grasped his outstretched hand and if I wasn’t mistaken stood a bit taller, “Mickey Gillian, professor of archeological studies at University of Glasgow.”
That's it! Hope you lurved it! :0)
PS - Sorry for the massive s p a c i n g on that, it was a lazy copy/paste. :0)
