Burns, Rabbie Burns *wink*

Photo credit: Wikipedia
For those who noticed the Q&A wasn't up yesterday, I apologize. I caught the plague that's currently going around at my office and I was down for the count. So, we're one day late in celebrating Scotland's most loved poet Robbie (or as they say in Scottytown Rabbie) Burns' birthday.

And because it's the day after I'll leave you with a lovely poem instead of the planned Q&A, because this my friends, is so much better. Enjoy the Robbie love.

I Love My Jean.

Of a' the airts the wind can blaw,
I dearly like the west,
For there the bony Lassie lives,
The Lassie I lo'e best;
There's wild-woods grow, and rivers row,
And mony a hill between;
But day and night my fancy's flight
Is ever wi' my Jean.

I see her in the dewy flowers,
I see her sweet and fair;
I hear her in the tunefu' birds,
I hear her charm the air:
There's not a bony flower, that springs
By fountain, shaw, or green,
There's not a bony bird that sings,
But minds me o' my Jean.

What I Really Want to Talk About:

Whisky.
Just a quick post, a friend of mine brought to my attention that not all people are born Whisky Gods who drink whisky straight. Some folks have to dilute it or make it in mixed drinks *gasp!* first.

After having heart palpitations, I present to you: How to Drink Scotch, click here for article.

Note: the purest within me is cringing, but I have to say it's a great guide to getting started. And for those of you looking for a great Scotland adventure and live here in Portland, The Highland Stillhouse in Oregon City has the largest selection of whisky in the state - the whisky list at your table comes in a booklet. Yup, a booklet.

And don't forget this Wednesday celebrate the birth of Scotland's beloved poet, Robbie Burns. Click here for more info. The Stillhouse is having Burns night and we'll be doing a fun Q&A here on the blog this Wednesday.

Silante!

I'm on Fire

Well this is one of those times where I think to myself: Becky back the fuck away from your keyboard. What you say today a) no one will understand and b) you'll be so sorry you said anything. . . 10 years from now.

You ever have one of those days? Where you just want to light everything you see on fire because the piss n' vinegar that you have within you is up to your eyeballs and you're afraid it'll seep out your tear ducts if you don't do something soon? I'm sure now that Facebook has the new "timeline" feature I'll be able to plot events and see a correlation over the years.

But then again will I be sorry I said something 10 years from now? Or will I be proud I opened my big-fat-mouth? That's the question, when is it right for you to standup for what you believe is right and when is it best to let those closest to what is happening deal with it - even if they're making an f'ing mess of things?

For those who've come to know me recently and not say, been my college roommate or childhood friend, there's something I need to tell you. I say shit I shouldn't. I'm the girl at the party that if you dare me to say something - anything - I'll do it. Sober. It's a family trait on my mother's side. My father's side says, shut your trap and plot your revenge silently. So I happily unfortunately do both. I say shit I shouldn't then plot revenge.

So, what is all this about Becky B? What's got your panties in a bunch? I can't tell you. There. Now your panties are in a bunch too. Happy Monday.

If you are one of those lucky folks who already own an autographed copy of Lady M. this is also a great place to post questions. Been wondering what was going through Rowan's mind in THE cabin scene, come on by and ask! No question is off limits! (yeah, I just threw down that gauntlet)

*The cake and ice cream is a gross exaggeration. I will be eating it, not passing it out. Ha-ha! :0D

What's an Epic Giveaway Look Like?

So here's the question I have. Book bloggers and authors all host or do giveaways. The best giveaways are those that have the actual books - autographed ones are better - but is there more to this? Is there a cleaver giveaway out there that you've seen? Something that isn't a Kindle, Nook, IPad, yacht, personal island - but something that book lovers/readers would enjoy receiving? I once saw a book giveaway with nail polish because it was a young adult novel. But The Legend of Lady MacLaoch, what does that require? Besides a smoldering clan chief with his own personal castle?  :0D

Ideas?

Slash n' Burn

It is interesting. I've gotten to the last 25 pages of editing Of Gears and Blood manuscript and stopped. I stopped so long that when I picked it back up this week I decided that the ending had to go. So I ripped it out. Yes, like a woman who hates the new drapery pattern - I tore them down and have burned them.

How does it end now? I've no clue but it's coming in pieces and it's really creepy. As in I have to work on it in small segments because diving into the mind of a murderer is like turning your world upside down and calling it right side up. Punching a human being until their nose breaks then bleeds - the feel of that blood, the pain, the concussion of the punch, all of it. I do a little at a time.

Anyway! What does this week bring you? Change? Same ol' same ol'?
